Are there pharmaceuticals in the water?

Many people are concerned with traces of pharmaceuticals and endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) left in the filtered wastewater. IPR drinking water supplied to the residents of San Diego will have undergone micro-filtration, reverse osmosis, UV, and peroxide treatments to remove pharmaceuticals and EDCs. This drinking water passes state and federal thresholds for pharmaceutical content, and is actually cleaner and safer than any water that is currently imported to our region.  Out of 232 pharmaceutical compounds tested for by the Water Reuse Study, only six were found to be above the levels found in San Diego's raw water supply, the water we currently drink. Each of those six remained below the level of any human health concern.
